Aunt Irene's Frosting |
"Luscious, creamy frosting that does not flavor too sweet. This frosting is scrumptious on any cake, but I especially adore it on coconut cake, sprinkled generously with coconut among layers and on top of cake."
Ingredients :
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-reason flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 (.25 ounce) package deal unflavored gelatin
- three eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream

- In a medium sized saucepan, stir the sugar, flour, cornstarch and gelatin collectively. Add the eggs and beat till smooth. Beat inside the milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring sometimes till thickened, approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Stir inside the butter and the vanilla. Let cool and relax until cold.
- Once cold, beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Whip the cream into smooth peaks and fold it into the frosting. Makes sufficient to frost one 8 or nine inch layer cake.
